Write Out is a National Writing Project event that runs from October 12–26 in celebration of how our natural environments can inspire and inform our creativity.

Ozarks Writing Project hosts its own Write Out activity in partnership with the National Park service. It is open to all who are interested and will be held on Friday, October 17th. If you need transportation to this event, a Missouri State shuttle will be available. Please RSVP using this form if you'd like to use the shuttle service.

According to the National Writing Project (NWP), the objective of "Writing Out" is "to be inspired by the world around us and to connect and learn through place-based writing and sharing."

NWP provides a number of resources on their Write Out page that may help get those writing neurons firing. Even if you endeavor on a solo Write Out experience, these inspiration-based tools and activities may provide a good place to start:

Awaken the Senses

Poetry Prompts

Story Prompts

STEAM Prompts

Writing in an unfamilar way can boost creativity and imagination—the natural world is the perfect adventurous option to explore our inspiration and try to understand WHY we write.

Why Write?

Why do YOU write? This is a very personal question that could be answered in a million unique ways. Many authors have given their take on it, but it's not only authors who write for a reason. Whether you're prolific or concise, creative or functional, personal or professional, your reason for writing is important, valid, and valuable.
